  • Life Expectancy: 8–10 years with proper care
  • Habitat: Native to slow-moving freshwater rivers, lakes, and streams in Central and South America (primarily Colombia, Venezuela, and Trinidad). Prefers soft substrates and areas with submerged roots, rocks, and leaf litter.
