- Scientific Name: Corydoras paleatus
- Common Name: Corydoras Peppered Longfin
- Adult Size: 2.5–3 inches (6–7.5 cm)
- Life Expectancy: 5–8 years (can live longer with excellent care)
- Habitat: Native to slow-moving rivers and streams in South America, especially in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. Found in cool, clear waters with sandy or muddy substrates and dense vegetation.
Tank Requirements
- Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons (for a group of 5 or more; they are schooling fish)
- Ideal Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C) — can tolerate slightly cooler temps better than other Corys
- pH Range: 6.0–7.5
- Water Hardness: 2–15 dGH
- Temperament: Very peaceful and social; thrives in groups; excellent for community tanks with other small, non-aggressive species
