🌱 Care Notes
- Leaf Texture & Color: Echinodorus ‘Rose’ is prized for its broad, slightly wavy leaves that range in color from bronze to reddish-pink, especially on new growth. As the leaves mature, they typically turn green, giving a beautiful color contrast.
- Placement: Best placed in the midground to background in medium to large aquariums. Its striking coloration makes it a popular focal plant in planted tank layouts.
- Water Conditions: Prefers soft to moderately hard water with a temperature range of 22–28°C (72–82°F). Stable conditions encourage better coloration.
- Lighting: Requires moderate to high light to develop its signature reddish hues. In lower light, leaves will be more green and less vibrant.
- CO₂: Optional, but adding CO₂ enhances color, size, and growth rate. Ideal in CO₂-injected, well-fertilized tanks.
- Fertilization: A nutrient-rich substrate is important. Use root tabs and liquid fertilizers, especially those containing iron, to promote rich red coloring.
- Propagation: Propagates via flower stalks that develop plantlets. These can be cut and replanted once roots and a few leaves form.
- Growth Rate: Moderate, but faster with good lighting and nutrients.
