Golden Assassin Snail

Origin

• Southeast Asia
• Commonly found in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia
• Lives in rivers, streams, and sandy-bottom habitats

Appearance

• Yellow to golden shell (instead of dark striped brown)
• Conical, spiral shell
• Small size: 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 inches)
• Often has subtle brown bands depending on strain

Behavior

• Carnivorous snail (unlike most snails)
• Slow-moving but effective hunter
• Burrows into sand when resting
• Often ambushes other snails

Tank Role (Very Important)

• Controls pest snail population naturally
• Does NOT eat healthy plants
• Can reduce snail overpopulation in planted tanks

Minimum Tank Size

• 10 gallons (but works in any community tank)

Water Parameters

• Temperature: 22–28°C
• pH: 6.5–7.8
• Moderately hard water preferred (for shell health)

Setup

• Sand or fine gravel substrate (they like to burrow)
• Planted tank is fine
• Normal community tank setup
