- Scientific Name: Corydoras pygmaeus
- Common Name: Pygmy Corydoras
- Adult Size: Around 0.75 to 1 inch (2 to 2.5 cm)
- Life Expectancy: 3 to 5 years, sometimes longer with excellent care
- Habitat: Native to the Madeira River basin in Brazil; found in slow-moving, shallow waters with leaf litter, fine sand, and dense vegetation

Diet & Nutrition
- Omnivorous: Yes — thrives on a varied diet of sinking micro-pellets, fine flakes, baby brine shrimp, micro worms, and other small live or frozen foods. Will occasionally graze on biofilm and algae.
Appearance
- Very small, slender body with silver-gray coloration
- Horizontal black stripe running from snout to tail
- Slightly translucent fins with minimal markings
- Males are slightly slimmer; females are rounder and larger, especially when carrying eggs
Distinctive Features
- One of the few Corydoras species that frequently swims in midwater as well as along the bottom
- Highly social and active — best viewed in a group where they exhibit natural schooling and foraging behaviors
- Delicate and easily outcompeted for food by larger tankmates, so small, peaceful community setups are best
