Origin

• Original Neon Tetras come from the Amazon Basin (South America)
• The albino red-eye form is a selectively bred aquarium variety

Appearance

• Transparent to milky-white body
• No strong neon blue/red stripe (or very faint)
• Bright red or ruby-colored eyes
• Slim tetra body shape
• Size: 3–4 cm (1.2–1.5 inches)

Temperament

• Very peaceful
• Strong schooling fish (keep 8–12+ for best comfort)
• Mid-water swimmer
• Works well in calm community tanks

• Rasboras
• Ember Tetras
• Corydoras
• Small Gouramis
• Shrimp (adult, usually safe)
