• Leaf Texture & Appearance: Rotala indica (Red) has thin, lanceolate leaves that range in color from orange to deep red, depending on lighting and nutrient conditions. It forms dense, vertical stems and creates a vivid red contrast in aquascapes when grown under optimal conditions.

• Placement: Best used in the midground to background of aquariums. Works exceptionally well in Dutch-style layouts and color-focused aquascapes. Plant in groups for a more dramatic effect.

• Water Conditions: Prefers soft, slightly acidic to neutral water. Ideal temperature range: 22–28°C (72–82°F). Clean, stable water parameters will enhance coloration and prevent leaf drop.

• Lighting: High-intensity lighting is essential to bring out the rich red hues. Without strong light, it may remain greenish or dull.

• CO₂: Highly recommended. CO₂ injection significantly improves color, density, and growth rate. Without CO₂, it may survive but with slower growth and less vibrant color.

• Fertilization: Needs regular dosing of macros and micros, especially iron and nitrate. A nutrient-rich environment helps maintain healthy red coloration and prevents stunted growth.

• Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings. Cut healthy tops and replant them into the substrate. Frequent trimming encourages side-shoot growth and denser bushes.
