Species Profile
- Scientific Name: Neocaridina denticulata (synonym of Neocaridina davidi)
- Common Name: Orange Shrimp (also known as Orange Sakura Shrimp)
- Adult Size: 2.5–3 cm (1–1.2 inches)
- Life Expectancy: 1 to 2 years (sometimes longer with optimal care)
- Habitat: Freshwater rivers and streams in Taiwan. Prefer slow-moving waters with plenty of plant cover and biofilm.
Tank Requirements
- Minimum Tank Size: 10 liters (2.5 gallons), though 20+ liters is recommended for stable water conditions
- Ideal Temperature: 20–26°C (68–79°F)
- pH Range: 6.5–8.0
- Water Hardness: 6–15 dGH (moderate hardness preferred for molting and shell development)
- Temperament: Peaceful and non-aggressive. Ideal for shrimp-only tanks or peaceful nano fish species. Should not be housed with large or predatory fish.
